A person in recovery is just that, a person. Each is an individual. Individuals will vary on the amount of time it takes to develop a positive attitude, use healthy coping skills, and/or become stable in mood. The time it takes to rebuild relationships, regain interest in certain activities, or become comfortable in prosocial situations is also going to vary. A person that has experienced active addiction may seem very different after their experiences. It is the hopes of treatment professionals that the individual develops the proper skills to maintain a happy, healthy lifestyle without relapse.
